How long are physical therapy visits?
Visits are usually between 45 minutes to an hour. A plan of care is created to achieve maximal benefits agreed upon by the therapist, physician, and the patient.

Do I need a prescription or doctor's referral?
Since 1979 Maryland has provided individuals direct access to physical therapists without a doctor's referral or script. Individuals can make an appointment with a physical therapist (PT) at any time for an evaluation or treatment without seeing a doctor first.

Physical therapists are trained to evaluate and treat a variety of symptoms or conditions. If a PT discovers any unusual symptoms or conditions during the evaluation that are beyond the scope of physical therapy, the PT is ethically bound to refer the patient to the appropriate health care provider.

How do I ensure I don't relapse after my physical therapy is over?
When your physical therapy ends it is very important to keep up with your progress. PPT offers the Continuing Therapy Through Fitness program just for this reason. We have the specialized equipment you need, plus a familiar environment where you are comfortable. There will always be a physical therapist on staff, along with fitness experts, for all your needs and concerns.
