How does physical therapy work? The patient is evaluated by a physical therapist for his or her diagnosis. The therapist then designs a program to help the patient retain functional ability. The therapy consists of pain management and strengthening the area of concern.
How long are physical therapy visits?
Do I need a prescription or doctor's referral? Physical therapists are trained to evaluate and treat a variety of symptoms or conditions. If a PT discovers any unusual symptoms or conditions during the evaluation that are beyond the scope of physical therapy, the PT is ethically bound to refer the patient to the appropriate health care provider.
